ootd: may backtrack

It's been too long!! I've been catching up on sleep, art, friends and good Asian food at good Asian prices. Here is an outfit I wore towards the end of school, featuring a cute skirt I made for a photography class, using photo-collage to create a graphic pattern and finally getting that printed on cloth. Bianca taught me how to sew and patiently guided me through the process, I'm so grateful.

Unfortunately I left this in Brooklyn, so I can only admire it from here, from some 9,500 miles away....

ootd: flyaway holiday

Arrived back in New York early on Christmas Day from a fun week in Northern California with my roomie. I guess I was pretty worn out because I slept in till 10 this morning, which is something that I've only managed to do recently, after finals. I'm an early-riser, usually up around 8, latest 9.

My roomie and I went thrifting one morning, and it was so much cheaper there than anywhere near me here... Pretty much everything I wore on the plane was second-hand.

Plenty find joy in retail-therapy, but there's something that makes thrifting twice the fun... going through racks and racks of pre-loved clothing (much of which usually cringe-worthy) and finding hidden treasures. There really isn't much of a thrifting culture in Singapore, but I jumped at the chance when I moved here.

a little holiday spirit~~

Yesterday Emily, Bianca and I had an early Christmas party because we are parting ways tomorrow! I'm following Bianca home to Northern Cali eehee!

Emily made eggnog, Bianca made sugar cookies and I attempted an apple tart/pie/thingy. I didn't follow the recipe closely enough and suffered the consequences. It wasn't perfect, but hey it still tasted good! I love that our dorm this year has a full kitchen so that I can experiment more with cooking~

It took quite a while to peel and slice up 10 apples, and in the end I had too much...

ootd: on all hallow's eve

 Today is Halloween!! It is the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy as well as a very cold night, but nevertheless, Emily and I went out trick-or-treating! I haven't done so since my childhood so it was exciting! A lot of the houses in the neighborhood weren't participating, or ran out of candy by the time we got there but it was fun nonetheless.

Afterwards we went to each room in the building of our dorm with Bianca to give out some of her spare candy! Reverse trick-or-treating! Very interesting to see the different reactions of different people! 

I think after these three days off due to the Hurricane I am somewhat ready to go back to class....though I sure liked this unexpected break~

ootd: a special day

I have to make this super-duper quick! I have a mid-term to cram for :(


So yesterday (now that's past 12...) was one of the best days ever. Arguably my best birthday ever. 

I don't like making a big deal out of my birthday, it's not public on any social-networking sites, and I won't tell you unless you ask. 

So when friends/loved ones pull something like this on me, I have nothing but feelings of gratefulness to the point where I feel bad about how much they've done.

Today my roommates (and my roommate's visiting friend) surprised me with a redecoration of my part of the dorm room, cake, presents and dinner (with help from my mom, thousands of miles away). I love them all. 

The 男友 gave me the sweetest presents ever and I'm so grateful to have him.

I'm so so so thankful for everyone in my life right now, I can't even express it in words..... so here instead are pictures from today. 

ootd: alyce & the rabbit

Today started with going thrifting with the 男友 and I picked up a really beautiful lace top. Look for it in an ootd soon! The dress, oversized cardi and boots that I wore today are all some of my favorites from my wardrobe <3

I have a lot of homework to get through and I am really stressed today. Nonetheless I decided to get my assignment for photography class out of the way, and I had so so so so much fun. 

Bianca & Emily were such lovely models, I hope to do shoots with them again! The assignment was portraiture, and I chose to do a series inspired by 'Alice in Wonderland'. Here are some of my favorites!!

ootd: summer days & birthday cakes

 Today was strangely warm for a day in October, so I took advantage of that and dug a romper out from the back of the closet! Lazy day~

I only have class till 12:30 on Fridays, so I spent the afternoon trying to work... needless to say I got distracted. When I looked out the window in the late afternoon, there were the prettiest shadows on the apartment building across from us!

Today is also Bianca's 20th birthday! She treated Emily and I to pizza and ice cream cake. We've been wanting to have a fat party since the beginning of this semester, and never got around to it... I was also meant to make myself a root-beer float but ugh... so bloated already~

ootd: love & lace

 Really fell in love with lace over the summer, so I wanted to wear this outfit before it gets too cold! 

Also braided my bangs this morning, something I haven't done in a while because I'm always a bit rushed in the morning..

Other than the usual ootd, today I'm introducing one of my two roommates! This is Bianca, aka Kaiami <3 

Emily aka Minnie, my other roommate shall be introduced soon enough as soon as she gets her blog up and running too!!
